Q. Is property information online?
A. Real estate assessment information may be found online by clicking here

Q. Why is my deceased husband’s name still on my real estate tax bill?
A. Any changes in ownership must be made via the Plymouth County Registry of Deeds

Q. Why is my assessment higher than the current market?
A. The current assessment is based on sales from two years prior

Q. If I don’t agree with my property assessment, what can I do?
A. A property owner can file an “Overvaluation Application” with the Board of Assessors within 30 days of the issue date of their first actual billing in January. The Board will have 90 days to review the assessment.

Q. If I purchased a property after January 1st, why is the previous owner’s name still on the real estate tax bill?

A. Real Estate Tax bills must legally go to the assessed owner as of January 1st
“care of” the subsequent owner. However the property record card will reflect
the current owner.

Q. The valuation on my excise bill is too high. It is not what I paid for the vehicle.
A. The valuation is based upon the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)
for that year vehicle.

Q. The value on my excise bill is the same as last year’s, why didn’t it go down?
A. The percentage of valuation decreases each year until it reaches 10% of the MSRP
It will then remain at this valuation.
